Ernst Haas

Haas

Ernst Haas (1921-1986) was born in Vienna, and eventually made New York City his home base, though he was a very well-travelled and cosmopolitan photographer. After a beginning with Magnum as a photojournalist, he gradually shifted to a more scenic approach and an exploration of colour. He also became more interested in spiritual traditions. Haas was a pioneer in the development of an artistic colour photography and showed a deep reverence for the beauties of nature.
