André Kertész
André Kertész (1894-1985) began his long photographic career in his native Hungary, moving later to Paris and finally to New York. One of the acknowledged masters of twentieth-century photography who influenced such other greats as Cartier-Bresson and Brassai, he pioneered the use of the small-format camera. His style is at once lyrical, childlike, and formally inventive.
