Robert Frank
Robert Frank (1924- ) was born in Switzerland and lives in Mabou, Nova Scotia. In the mid-1950s he travelled across the United States and the photographs from that odyssey were published in The Americans, a landmark portrait of an entire nation that influenced a whole generation of photographers. Frank’s images of disillusionment and despair were a shock for those who cherished the ideals of the American Dream. Frank’s later work, including film and video, is in a more private and personal vein.
