Bill Brandt
Bill Brandt (1904-1983) ranks as one of a handful of the most original and powerful photographers of the twentieth century. Born in Germany but spending most of his life in England, he went from social documentary to melodrama and surrealism, producing striking portraits of artists and writers, brooding landscape and seascape studies, and highly original nudes.
